I'm brand new to Brave Writer

These classes offer you an entry point to experience our unique approach to writing instruction:  Introduction to the Brave Writer Approach

A common question new families ask

If I have limited funds, which is a better choice to make: The Writer's Jungle Online (the online class) or The Writer's Jungle (binder or digital version)?

The Writer's Jungle Online is better at giving the support and accountability that help many moms get over the hurdle of teaching writing. If you find that you want to make time to teach writing, but never get around to it, a class will ensure that you keep that commitment to yourself and your kids. It's the "hand-holding" approach to becoming your child's best writing coach. I always recommend a class, as a first choice, if you have to pick one.

The Writer's Jungle, however, offers the possibility of going at your own pace. It gives you a wealth of material not found in an online class, and it is a constant resource you can turn to again and again since you will own it. If you feel you need to soak in the Brave Writer philosophy, like the idea of testing the waters for yourself, enjoy going at your own unhurried pace, or want to reinforce what you've already learned in a class, The Writer's Jungle is the ticket!

We've taken The Writer's Jungle Online. Now what?

Here are some natural choices for follow-up classes that allow children to practice the skills of freewriting, keen observation, and revision as they continue to share their unique personalities through writing:  After the Writer's Jungle Online

My child is reluctant to write

If your child would rather do just about anything other than write, we suggest taking The Writer's Jungle Online to help you understand the root cause(s) of that resistance. As a next step, these classes appeal most to reluctant writers because the activities don't feel like traditional writing assignments: Classes for Reluctant Writers

What is available for my "middler" (ages 9-14)?

Children in this age are often ready to take more responsibility for their writing. Learn more about their natural stage of growth in writing in order to support them through this important time of development.  After completing The Writer's Jungle Online (always our first recommended class), we suggest a variety of writing experiences to build narrative and critical thinking skills: Middle School Classes

Can you help me plan courses for my early high schooler?

At Brave Writer, we focus on giving high school students the skills they need to be mature thinkers who explore ideas without fear; to articulate thoughts in selective, skillful language; and to engage in discussion with others about big ideas. Here is a suggested course flow for your early high schooler: Early High School Classes
